Description

Hymn of Thanksgiving is built around George J. Elvey’s 1856 hymn tune St. George’s Windsor—most famously set to Henry Alford’s “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come”—this reconstruction preserves the original melody’s structural frame while taking imaginative liberties with its harmonic language. The work draws on the composer’s childhood memories of the tune as the classic Thanksgiving hymn “Sing a Song of Harvest Home.”
