“Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.” The text of this carol can be traced back to the Liturgy of St. James from the 5th Century. The text used here was paraphrased by Gerard Moultrie (1829-1885) during the 19th Century. The tune Picardy is 17th Century French and named for the region from which it originates. This carol is particularly interesting because of its phrase structure.
