SATB (A cappella)
The melody for “Good King Wenceslas” was originally the tune of a spring carol entitled “Tempus Adest Floridum”, first found in Martin Luther’s collection, “Piae Cantiones” from 1582. In 1853, Reverend John M. Neale adapted the carol, substituting the legend of “King Wenceslas”, likely based on a martyred Bohemian duke named Wenzel (Germ.) who lived in the 10th century and was known for his many kind acts to the poor.
